Full details on why Luis Diaz was nowhere to be seen in Liverpool defeat v AC Milan
Luis Diaz’s future has been a big talking point at Liverpool this summer.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich have both been linked with the Colombian, with Arne Slot set to add to his squad overhaul in the coming weeks.
Last season, Diaz was crucial for the Reds, playing 36 Premier League games, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists.
However, he wasn’t involved against AC Milan as Liverpool lost 4-2 to the Italian giants in Hong Kong on Saturday (27 July).

Diaz left out due to talks over move to Bayern Munich
Despite winning the league last season, Slot has been quick to move on from some important players.
Milos Kerkez has been recruited as a possible replacement for Andy Robertson, and Darwin Nunez has been axed from the side after his poor performances.
Though Slot has been keen to keep Diaz, the Dutchman will waste no time in replacing the winger, with an exit getting closer.

According to The Mail on Sunday (page 85, 27 July), Diaz missed the defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong due to the striker being in talks over a move to Bayern Munich.
Liverpool are braced for a second bid from the German giants after they rejected an initial offer in the region of £58.5million.
Asked about the forward’s absence, Slot said: “There are a lot of rumours going around it and I cannot go into that.
“But he is training really well with us and we have decided, for now, not to play him yet.
“Does he want to leave? I am not the person to ask.”

Slot will move on quickly from Diaz
Liverpool have shown that they have plenty of money to splash this summer.
The signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike has shown that the Reds are really pushing to win back-to-back league titles.
Should Nunez and Diaz be shifted in the coming weeks, the Reds will be quick to find a replacement for them.
The Reds still have money to spend despite already spending over £180million this summer, and look in good stead to improve on last season’s impressive campaign.
