
Premier League say sorry as Liverpool impacted by new announcement
Liverpool are preparing for their Premier League title defence in 2025-26.
Arne Slot has brought in numerous new signings to help give the Reds the best possible chance of retaining the trophy.
Hugo Ekitike became Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer on Wednesday (23 July) when he joined from Frankfurt.
As a result, many of the Anfield faithful are excited for the new season to start, with big expectations.
However, fans have now had the start of their season impacted thanks to an announcement from the Premier League.

Liverpool matches set for Premier League broadcast in September
Due to Liverpool being the Premier League champions, it is no surprise that the Reds are popular this the TV companies.
Slot’s side are already set to have multiple matches broadcast live in September.
In the Premier League, the Reds’ games against Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Arsenal are all set to be shown live in the UK.
On top of this, Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield will also be available to watch on TV.
Now, the Premier League has confirmed that their games against Burnley and Everton will now also be shown live.
The Premier League were also quick to apologise in this announcement due to how long it took for the TV arrangements to be confirmed.
They could not be announced on the intended 9 July date due to delays in local approvals for fixtures.
“The Premier League would like to apologise for not being able to confirm these fixtures until now,” the statement read.
“However, today’s announcement is in line with our commitment to give at least six weeks’ notice for fixture announcements before January.”

Fans face further problems for Liverpool vs Everton
While it was inevitable that the Merseyside derby would be put on TV, the date of the game is yet to be 100 per cent confirmed.
Currently, it is scheduled for Saturday, 20 September. However, the match will move to Sunday, 21 September should Liverpool play away in Champions League the preceding Wednesday.

For one of the biggest games of the season, many Liverpool and Everton supporters will be unable to make plans for weeks.
This is simply unacceptable, and the Premier League should have simply put the game on Sunday to remove any potential doubt about the date.
Once again, match-going fans have been let down, a trend that is becoming far too common in England.
