Luis Diaz handed Bayern Munich warning by Sadio Mane amid Liverpool exit talks

Bayern Munich want to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and have already had an offer rejected for the winger.

Diaz played an important role for Arne Slot’s side last season as they strolled to the Premier League title, and is considered a key player.

The Colombian reportedly wants to leave Liverpool, but they have little intention of letting him go as things stand, but could be persuaded by a huge offer.

Given Liverpool’s current trajectory, it is surprising to see why Diaz is so keen on an exit, but he must heed one warning by Reds legend Sadio Mane.

Mane difficulties at Bayern a warning for Diaz

Mane surprised everyone when he made the decision to leave Liverpool to join Bayern in 2022, but it was an unwise move from the winger.

The Senegal icon became a Liverpool legend and established himself as one of the best players in the world at Anfield before leaving as a 30-year-old exploring a new challenge.

However, Mane struggled to make an impact in Munich despite playing alongside some world-class players, and left after just one season to move to Saudi Arabia.

With Bayern heavily keen on Diaz, he may now look at how Mane fared in Germany, and how quickly his career fell from the heights of Liverpool, before forcing any exit.

Players who appeared for Liverpool and Bayern

Mane is not the only player to appear for both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, with Ryan Gravenberch currently thriving in Merseyside after leaving the Allianz Stadium.

Over the years, Philippe Coutinho, Pepe Reina, Thiago Alcantara, Xabi Alonso, Didi Haaman, Xherdan Shaqiri, Markus Babbel, Christian Ziege and Emre Can appeared for both clubs, and most would say they preferred their time at Liverpool.

Only Thiago, Ziege and Babbel made more appearances for Bayern than they did at Liverpool, and the rest would all have more fond memories at Anfield.

Diaz should look at their examples as a reason to reconsider an exit, but if he does end up leaving, Liverpool could look to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
