Charlie Cresswell signs – Who Arne Slot could axe if Liverpool pull off deal
Arne Slot is looking to add even more depth to his squad with the potential signing of Charlie Cresswell.
The centre back left Leeds United last summer for French side Toulouse, and now Liverpool are believed to have scouted the 22-year-old.
Cresswell is believed to be shortlisted alongside Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi by the Reds, with players possibly making way should they push to sign a defender.

Cresswell could replace Konate at Anfield
Ibrihima Konate could be lured away from Anfield in the coming weeks.
Real Madrid are reportedly waiting in the wings for the Frenchman as they look to threaten the Reds with a similar situation to what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
On that occasion, Slot’s side managed to find a suitable replacement in Jeremie Frimpong, and Liverpool could look to force Konate’s hand this summer.

The Reds could try and convince Cresswell to come to Merseyside this summer, which could push Konate out of the side.
With less football guaranteed, the 26-year-old could move to Madrid this summer, and the Reds could still get a fee for the defender.
Konate’s contract at Anfield runs out next summer, and should Konate not agree to an extension, Slot won’t hesitate to move on.

Konate playing a risky game
Slot has already shown that he will be ruthless with his fringe players this summer.
Darwin Nunez will be replaced by Hugo Ekitike, and Milos Kerkez has been signed to potentially replace Andy Robertson.
Konate faces a similar fate should he continue to play hardball with Liverpool.
There is the possibility that the Frenchman could be benched for the whole of next season, with the defender seemingly not committed to the club.
The Reds still have money to spend despite already spending over £180million this summer and are weighing up whether to sign a centre back.
Whether Konate departs or not, this summer, should he continue to refuse to sign a new contract, there will be no way back for him.
