‘Ekitike has already made first Liverpool mistake’ as brand-new images emerge
Liverpool’s hunt for a new striker looks set to conclude ahead of Arne Slot’s second season in charge.
Given Darwin Nunez’s poor form in L4 and his now uncertain future, Slot has looked to Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike to add even more firepower to his strike force.
Nunez has had a mixed spell at Anfield, and in recent months, he has come under fire, but Ekitike hasn’t gotten off to the most ideal start for the Reds.
The French striker has traveled to Merseyside to undergo a medical, but will now have to learn his first lesson at Liverpool after a naive mistake.

Ekitike wears the colours of Everton ahead of Liverpool switch
Liverpool’s attack last season very rarely featured a natural striker, with Slot instead regularly rotating his front three.
The Reds now seem to have found their perfect out-and-out number nine in Ekitike, though wearing blue to his medical won’t impress the Anfield faithful.
Fabrizio Romano shared images via X on Tuesday (22 July) of Ekitike boarding his flight to Liverpool, in which the forward could be seen wearing blue trousers with a blue and white jacket.
Stat | Hugo Ekitike |
Appearances | 48 |
Goals | 22 |
Assists | 12 |
Many supporters of both Liverpool and Everton have been quick to point out that the striker is wearing the Toffees’ colours.
If Ekitike is unsure about the fierce rivalry between the two clubs, he won’t be now, and it is unlikely that you will see the 23-year-old in blue again.
Ekitike can wear what he wants if he succeeds with Liverpool
Ekitike scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt last season, 11 goals behind top-scorer Harry Kane.
Slot’s side will be hoping he can replicate his fine form on Merseyside, and if he does, he won’t come under fire for his choice of clothes in the future.
Should Liverpool lose Nunez or Luis Diaz in the coming weeks, Ekitike will soften the blow and replace the goals lost in attack.
Whatever follows in the coming weeks, there is no doubt that the Reds have strengthened their Premier League-winning side, and Slot’s team will be feared in the top flight next season.
