Liverpool news round-up: Isak deal back on as new footage emerges
Liverpool have received positive news yet again as they attempt to close another deal this summer.
The Reds are orchestrating one of the best summer transfer windows seen in the Premier League in years.
Arne Slot now has Florian Wirtz and his partner-in-crime Jeremie Frimpong at his disposal, while Milos Kerkez is set to offer some extra defensive security.
And with Hugo Ekitike set to arrive at Anfield, next season cannot come soon enough.
Here, Liverpool News has rounded up the latest stories regarding the Reds, with a boatload of transfer business still expected this summer.

Trey Nyoni dazzles as Liverpool footage released
Liverpool demolished Stoke City 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday (20 July), and Trey Nyoni in particular shone.
The young superstar showed off his technique and impressive passing range when he delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Dominic Szoboszlai, who set up Darwin Nunez in front of goal.
Nyoni is considered one of the best talents among his peers, and the hype surrounding him is only expected to rise after Liverpool shared a clip of the action on social media.
Federico Chiesa left out of pre-season tour
Federico Chiesa was Slot’s only signing last summer, but struggled to make an impression upon his arrival at Anfield.
The Italian started four games last season and is set to leave Liverpool after growing frustrated by his limited gametime.
It only seems a matter of when he leaves, as Chiesa was left out of Slot’s squad for Liverpool’s pre-season tour, as reported by Fabrizio Romano (20 July).
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich target Luis Diaz did not feature in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory against Stoke on Sunday (20 July), but will travel to Asia with the Reds.
The decision to leave Chiesa out of the pre-season squad has made it clear that the winger’s short tenure in Merseyside is at its end.
Alexander Isak is unsettled at Newcastle following Liverpool links
This month, the Reds made their interest in Alexander Isak known, only for Newcastle United to close the doors to a departure.
As a result, Liverpool accelerated their pursuit of Ekitike, whom the Magpies were prepared to break a club-record fee to sign. However, all may not be lost where Isak is concerned.
Player | Season | Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Hugo Ekitike | 2024/25 | Eintracht Frankfurt | 48 | 22 | 12 |
Alexander Isak | 2024/25 | Newcastle | 42 | 27 | 6 |
As reported by The Telegraph (21 July), Isak has become unsettled at Newcastle, with Liverpool and other clubs circling the forward.
Isak has begun to grow frustrated at Newcastle, with a contract dispute being the root of the problem. He was promised a new contract by former co-owner Amanda Staveley in 2024.
However, previous sporting director Paul Mitchell opted not to open those talks with the club’s PSR position making things difficult. As a result, Liverpool could capitalise on the situation and welcome Isak to Anfield this summer.
