‘Luiz Diaz exit closer than ever’ as Liverpool update emerges

Luis Diaz could be on his way out of Liverpool this summer.

Most of the focus this summer has been on the recruitment at Anfield, with several high-profile players making a move to Liverpool, with more still to be expected.

However, plenty of attention will also be on the players who may have to make way for those new arrivals, with Diaz one of them.

The Colombian has been heavily mooted for an exit from Merseyside in the coming weeks, and that departure may now be closer than ever after a new update emerged.

Liverpool face Stoke in pre-season friendly, Diaz absent

Arne Slot‘s side faced off against Stoke City in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Potters on Sunday (20 July), and the teamsheet revealed before the game served as a potential transfer indication.

Diaz was nowhere to be seen in the squad that was full of first-team players, though he wasn’t the only absentee.

Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister were also missing, which threw a spanner into the works when fans were trying to find the reasoning behind Diaz’s absence.

It could be a sign that a move to Bayern is progressing, or it could very well prove to be a case of Slot resting the Colombian, with time likely to clear that situation up.

Slot would want to replace Diaz if exit occurs

A deal for Hugo Ekitike is progressing nicely at Liverpool, though he isn’t likely to be seen as a replacement for Diaz in any way, shape or form.

Should his exit happen, he will need to be replaced, and there are countless players who could fit the bill for the Reds.

However, their ability to secure that replacement may hinge on the timing of his exit, with the new Premier League campaign just a few weeks away.
