‘FSG taking big gamble at Liverpool’ as Luis Diaz exit update drops

Liverpool could make their first mistake of the summer following the latest Luis Diaz exit development.

FSG have come under fierce criticism in recent years for their reluctance to spend big during the summer market. However, their current window has shaped up to be one of the biggest shocks of the summer.

Fans have applauded the transfers of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong and are ecstatic about the possibility of Hugo Ekitike landing at Anfield.

However, the Liverpool owners are now making a decision which could prove to be a mistake.

Bayern Munich add Malick Fofana to shortlist amid Diaz interest

Bayern Munich have already seen a bid rejected for Diaz this summer.

Liverpool have been adamant that the winger is not for sale, but the German giants were determined to break their resolve. However, the Merseyside club may have pushed the Bundesliga title-winners to their breaking point.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Sunday (20 July), Bayern are set to bid again for Diaz to find an agreement with Liverpool.

However, Malick Fofana has been added to their shortlist if the Reds refuse to sell, having already contacted Lyon about the conditions for a potential deal.

While retaining Diaz could initially appear as a win for Liverpool, the Reds may live to regret this decision.

FSG need to recoup some of the money they are splurging on Wirtz, Frimpong and Ekitike, and the sale of the Colombian could help facilitate that. As a result, it could be a mistake to turn down Bayern for a second time this summer.

Liverpool should sell Diaz

There is no doubt that Diaz has given his all for the badge these past couple of years. However, Liverpool should sell him if the right offer comes along.

The Reds already have Cody Gakpo, who can occupy that position and are reportedly interested in signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid. The Brazilian has demonstrated his level on the left side when given the chance to play there over Vinicius Junior and would be a brilliant investment.

Therefore, if push comes to shove, Liverpool should consider selling Diaz this summer.
