‘Frimpong already in trouble at Anfield’ after recent Liverpool scenes
Jeremie Frimpong is one of several high-profile signings Liverpool have made this summer.
The Reds spent £100million on Florian Wirtz and have agreed a deal for Hugo Ekitike.
It might feel like an age since they signed Frimpong, who completed his move from Bayer Leverkusen as soon as the transfer window opened.
Frimpong was signed to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, but the Dutchman shouldn’t be so certain of a starting place.

Conor Bradley proves his worth to Arne Slot in pre-season friendly
Conor Bradley was given plenty of chances to shine at right-back last season, particularly after it was clear that Alexander-Arnold would leave.
He played well whenever given the opportunity, and some suggested that he would be Liverpool’s starting right-back last season.
Then, Frimpong was signed, and all that talk stopped.
However, Bradley isn’t going anywhere. He’s ready to fight for his place in the team, and proved as much during a solid performance against Preston on Saturday (19 July).
Bradley scored the opening goal, and Liverpool kept a clean sheet while he was on the pitch. The 22-year-old made one tackle and one clearance, won two of his three ground duels, and completed 83 per cent of his passes [Sofascore].
There was some room for improvement, as Bradley lost the one aerial duel he contested, gave possession away 10 times, and failed to provide an accurate long ball from three attempts before being replaced by Frimpong at half-time.
However, the Liverpool gem did enough to suggest that Frimpong could be in trouble if he doesn’t perform consistently.

Bradley will have plenty to offer Liverpool
Bradley has proven he can fit well into Arne Slot’s system, where the full-backs are expected to constantly push forward.
There will be high hopes that Frimpong can do the same. He has certainly proven capable in attack for Leverkusen. Yet, there may still be good reasons to pick Bradley instead on occasion.
Statistics show that Bradley was more consistent than Frimpong in winning ground duels and aerial duels during the 2024/25 season.
So, during those tough away games against Premier League rivals or in Europe, fans shouldn’t be surprised to see Bradley starting. He may even be preferred to start Liverpool’s opening league games, while Frimpong continues to settle into his new surroundings.
In a long, tough season, both Frimpong and Bradley will prove useful to Liverpool, and Slot can be trusted to know when to utilise each asset.
Considering the output that both can provide to Liverpool’s attack, people might hear Liverpool fans asking, ‘Trent who?’ by the time the season finishes.
