Liverpool’s best ever away kits as 25/26 design leaked
Liverpool’s new away shirt for the 2025-26 campaign has leaked online.
The Reds will defend their Premier League title in Adidas shirts as they have agreed a £60m-a-year deal with the German sportswear brand.
The Anfield outfit’s deal with Nike does not expire until 1 August, as it was delayed due to the COVID pandemic.
That delay has seen the design for the return to Adidas leaked on social media before the official reveal.
Here, Liverpool News looks at some of the best away shirts that have graced Anfield over the years.
1976-81
Perhaps the most iconic era in Liverpool’s history was matched by one of their best away efforts.
The Umbro kit was worn for five years, and its simple design is what makes it so beautiful, with a white base, red collar and red accents on the sleeves.
The likes of Kenny Dalglish and Emlyn Hughes wore this shirt through one of the most successful eras for the club, with three European Cups and three league titles.
1982-84
Liverpool have often worn yellow and red away strips, but this is the best version of that combination.
A yellow shirt with red pinstripes and the iconic Crown Paints sponsor, it was another shirt that is associated with success.
The Reds won two league titles and another European Cup in this span of time, with Dalglish and Ian Rush causing chaos.
1989-91
The grey away shirt that was worn the last time that the Reds won the First Division title before it was rebranded to the Premier League.
The likes of John Barnes and Rush donned possibly the most iconic Liverpool away kit of all time during the 1989-90 title-winning season.
The Adidas number was a stunning effort, the colour, the diamond pattern, the Candy sponsor, it will forever go down as one of the best football shirts of all time.
2000-01
The gold and navy effort was not the nicest shirt to look at, but its place in the Reds’ history is assured by the success that they enjoyed that season.
The shirt was worn as Michael Owen stunned Arsenal in the FA Cup final with a quickfire double at the Millennium Stadium.
Gerard Houllier’s side would also win the UEFA Cup and the League Cup, and finished third in the top-flight.
2021/22
The campaign itself was good, as Jurgen Klopp‘s side won a domestic cup double but were cruelly denied in the Premier League title race and the Champions League final.
An Ecru effort with dark green and pink accents, it was based on the iconic 1995-96 away, and it felt like a retro shirt.
It was forever immortalised as the Reds ran riot at Old Trafford, securing a 5-0 win over their arch-rivals, with Mohamed Salah scoring a hat-trick.
