Ekitike compared to Henry as Liverpool edge closer

Hugo Ekitike has emerged as the main striker target for Liverpool as Newcastle stand firm on Isak.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that the 23-year-old is similar to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and the Magpies ace.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News (17 July), he said: “I have seen him a fair bit, and he is not unlike Isak with a bit of Henry about him too.

“He is quick, athletic, scores with either foot, can join in play, a flamboyant character off the pitch.

“Hence the huge price, there is a shortage of elite level No 9s, so that pushes up price for the likes of Isak, Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres, but for a lot less you could go for Ollie Watkins, Yoane Wissa, Jean-Phillippe Mateta.”

FSG to love Hughes after Konate contract update

FSG will love sporting director Richard Hughes after the latest on Ibrahima Konate‘s contract at Liverpool.

The Frenchman is out of contract next summer and has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook (17 July) has reported that Konate is not satisfied with the salary being offered by the Reds.

Hughes drives a hard bargain, so the France international will have to lower his demands, which will be music to FSG’s ears.

Ekitike terms agreed as Liverpool move on from Isak

Liverpool have turned their attention to Ekitike after Newcastle made it clear that they will not sell Isak.

FSG masterclass revealed amid Smith transfer details

Liverpool Women have agreed to sell Olivia Smith to Arsenal in a masterclass from FSG.

The Canadian star has left for a fee of over £1million, which is a world record in the Women’s game, surpassing the £900,000 that Chelsea spent on Naomi Girma in January.

The Reds have made a near £800,000 profit, which is a financial masterstroke from the American ownership group.
