Liverpool squad value: How do Salah, Wirtz and Luis Diaz compare?

Liverpool are investing heavily into their squad this summer, and this could benefit them in the long-term.

Arne Slot won the Premier League with ease in his first season, and is now trying to build a dynasty with a squad capable of winning more trophies.

Liverpool have signed Florian Wirtz for a record fee, and he will join a team which already has several world-class players within their ranks.

The Reds now have a top-quality and high-value squad, and their players also have a lot of market resale value, which could benefit them in the future.

Liverpool squad valuations

Mohamed Salah finished as Liverpool’s top scorer last season, but despite being the best player in the Premier League, he ranks just eighth at the club in terms of market value.

Several factors come into play such as length of contract, age, resale value and performances, and Transfermarkt have now valued Salah at £43 million.

In seventh place is Ibrahima Konate, despite the defender having just one year to go on his deal, and the Frenchman is valued at £52m.

Wingers Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz rank above, with valuations of £60m, and Liverpool have now rejected an offer for Diaz from Bayern Munich.

Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is in fourth, with a valuation of £65m, but there is a surprising top three, as neither Virgil van Dijk nor Alisson are there.

Dominik Szoboszlai is in third place as he is valued at £69m, below Alexis Mac Allister at £86m following his outstanding season.

Wirtz tops the chart as he is valued at £120m, following his record move from Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool resale value vital to squad building

One thing Liverpool have done better than most other clubs is selling at the right time, with profits maximised on transfers to then reinvest into the squad.

Darwin Nunez could leave this summer, and Liverpool will aim to recoup most of the fee they spent to sign him from Benfica.

A sale now could help fund a move for Alexander Isak, and other players could be sold further down the line to continually boost the finances.

Szoboszlai for example, may lose his starting spot following the arrival of Wirtz, but given his high value, could still be sold for a profit if he no longer fits in Slot’s plans.
