Liverpool’s best ever home kits as 25/26 shirt announcement date leaked
Liverpool have had to delay the release of their new home kit for the 2025/26 season.
The Reds’ latest launch of the iconic red strip has been put back, as a result of their previous deal with Nike being subject to a delayed start as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, this year, Liverpool have reverted back to Adidas, with the two parties agreeing on a multi-year deal back in March.
The release date for the L3 side’s latest home effort has been leaked, with the new design from the iconic German supplier set to be released on 1 August, according to Footy Headlines (3 July).
With that in mind, Liverpool News looks back at some of the best home kits to have graced Anfield over the years.
1991-1993
Adidas have been synonymous with Liverpool for several years, and they have produced plenty of eye-catching designs in their time.
This effort featured extremely was an extremely bold number, featuring a statement twist from the timeless three stripes branding.
The Reds wore this at the 1992 FA Cup final, when they saw off Sunderland thanks to goals from Michael Thomas and Ian Rush to record a famous win under the Wembley arch.
It was paired with a similarly bold green and white away strip at the time, and firmly has its place among the club’s greatest ever home shirts.

2006/07
It’s hard to separate the several impressive strips from Carlsberg’s period as Liverpool’s front of shirt sponsor, but this one is certainly right up there with the club’s best over the years.
It brings memories of Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso flooding back, in what was a memorable era for Premier League football.
The Reds may have fallen to AC Milan in the 2007 Champions League final while wearing this number, but that does little to diminish the quality of the design itself.

2019/20
The kit worn by Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering side as they brought the Reds’ 30-year wait for a league title to an end.
New Balance kept it simple with the kits they produced for the Anfield outfit, but they made an instant classic on this occasion.
A nod to the iconic pinstriped shirt from the mid-1980s, it is undoubtedly one of the Reds’ best in recent years.
1985-1987
This effort was worn for two consecutive seasons back in the days when clubs didn’t always release a new kit every year, and it has a firm place among the club’s best.
Simplistic, classy and clean, it’s everything a Liverpool home shirt should be, and the vivid shade of red makes it instantly recognisable.
Kenny Dalglish’s side won the old First Division title wearing this kit, and the likes of Rush tore their competition apart with the historic Adidas trefoil logo on their chest.

1989-1991
Perhaps the most iconic Liverpool home shirt of them all, the home strip worn between 1989 and 1991 became affectionately known as the ‘Candy kit’ after the front-of-shirt sponsor.
It was a brilliantly 90s design, it was bold and eye-catching, but also worked to perfection.
Featuring the Adidas branding once again, this kit is surely right up there in the conversation as the best the Merseysiders have ever worn.
