Hugo Ekitike ‘set to clear medical’ as Liverpool eye transfer
Liverpool are keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike ahead of Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the Frenchman’s fitness record ahead of a potential medical in the coming weeks.
The 23-year-old has been a regular for the German side and is an in-demand striker this summer.

Ekitike to clear pre-transfer medical
Ekitike may take time to adapt to life in the Premier League, but he’s not expected to face any issues in clearing his medical ahead of a transfer, according to Dr Brar.
Liverpool are considering signing Ekitike to replace Darwin Nunez, who could leave this summer.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News: “He missed just one game last season, which was due to a knock.
“That suggests that he has no underlying fitness issues and that’s a positive for any club signing him.
“While he may take a while to adapt to the Premier League, he should face no issues clearing his medical at Liverpool.”

Liverpool would certainly benefit from signing Ekitike
Ekitike would complement Slot’s Liverpool by offering a more refined skill set than Darwin Nunez, aligning with the Dutchman’s possession-based, tactically fluid 4-2-3-1 system.
The 23-year-old excels in link-up play and his intelligent movement between the lines enhances attacking cohesion, addressing the Uruguayan’s struggles with composure and decision-making.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|
E. Frankfurt | 64 | 26 | 14 |
Paris SG | 33 | 4 | 4 |
Stade Reims | 28 | 11 | 4 |
Vejle BK | 11 | 3 | 2 |
Ekitike’s 6’4” frame adds aerial presence, while his pace and dribbling suit Liverpool’s high-pressing style.
Though not a prolific finisher, his decent goal tally suggests reliability, making him a versatile upgrade who can grow into a key role.
It remains to be seen if the Anfield outfit end up making an official bid for the former PSG striker.
