Rodrygo and Arsenal star – 3 Gordon alternatives Liverpool can sign to replace Diaz
Liverpool are in danger of losing Luis Diaz this summer, and would need to replace him if he goes.
The Reds are keen on keeping Diaz at the club despite interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but the situation is currently tense.
Liverpool have already recruited Florian Wirtz and could further add more big name signings, particularly if the Colombian leaves.
Newcastle star Anthony Gordon has been linked as his replacement, but with a reported £100million price tag, a deal looks unlikely, and Liverpool News have now named three possible alternatives.

Liverpool could push for Rodrygo as Diaz replacement
If Diaz does leave for a substantial fee, then Liverpool could pull off one of the best moves of the summer by signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
It has now been reported that Rodrygo will be allowed to leave Real Madrid, with new manager Xabi Alonso leaving him out of the team during the Club World Cup.
Arsenal have been linked as his next destination, but Liverpool can frustrate their title rivals by signing the Brazilian instead.
The prospect of an attack with Wirtz, Mohamed Salah and Rodrygo is a mouthwatering one, and he may even be available for a lower transfer fee than Gordon.
Ademola Lookman could be a shrewd Anfield signing
Former Everton winger Ademola Lookman has reinvented himself with Atalanta, and was the hero as he helped them win the 2024 Europa League with a hattrick in the final.
Lookman could reportedly be available for as little as £35m, and at 27, he is coming into his prime years.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Atalanta | 118 | 52 | 25 |
Charlton Athletic | 49 | 12 | 3 |
Everton | 48 | 4 | 2 |
Leicester City | 42 | 8 | 5 |
Fulham | 35 | 4 | 4 |
RB Leipzig | 24 | 5 | 4 |
The Nigerian could be a shrewd signing, and much better value for money than Gordon, while Lookman himself would have a point to prove if he returns to Merseyside and the Premier League.
Liverpool could steal Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal
If Arsenal do sign Rodrygo, then it may indicate that they are ready to sell Gabriel Martinelli, and Liverpool could pounce on the winger.
The Brazil international has hit a spell of inconsistent form, but the 24-year-old has the potential to explode.
With Gordon targeted for his speed, Martinelli can offer the same threat in transition, and can play across the front three as someone to complement Wirtz as a false nine.
Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Martinelli and has consistently praised him in the past, and perhaps he could now find himself at Anfield.
