Diogo Jota’s greatest Liverpool goals, from Atalanta to Everton heroics

Liverpool are still mourning Diogo Jota after his tragic passing.

The Liverpool star passed away after a car crash in the Zamora region of Spain, which also took the life of his brother and fellow footballer Andre Silva.

His death has shocked the football world, with the likes of David Moyes, Jurgen Klopp and rock band Oasis all paying tribute.

Here, Liverpool News celebrates his greatest goals for the Merseyside club.

Atalanta 0-5 Liverpool – 3 November 2020

Jota’s stunning hat-trick against Atalanta was one of the finest nights of his Liverpool career.

His first was a beautiful dink over the goalkeeper and that was followed by a drilled effort on his right foot after he had brought the ball down with his left.

He embarrassed Marco Sportiello further for the third, when he got onto Sadio Mane’s pass and rounded him and slotted home to seal his first triple for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool 4-0 Arsenal20 November 2021

The Reds star loved a goal against Arsenal; he scored seven times against the Londoners.

On this occasion, he latched onto a misplaced pass from Nuno Tavares and from there it was inevitable what he was going to do.

Jota dribbled past Ben White and the onrushing Aaron Ramsdale and put the ball into the empty goal to give his side a two-goal lead.

The Anfield outfit would win 4-0, ending the Gunners’ 10-match unbeaten run, and it was a typical Jota goal.

Liverpool 3-3 Leicester (5-4 pens) – 22 December 2021

It was Jota who struck the decisive penalty in the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester, and the Reds went on to lift the trophy.

The attacker was introduced as a half-time substitute and had already got his side back into the contest after the Foxes had taken a 3-1 lead.

His celebration afterwards was arguably the enduring moment of the run to the final, as he goaded the away supporters after they had sang ‘Feed the Scousers’ for the majority of the clash.

Liverpool 4-3 Tottenham – 30 April 2023

Jota came off the bench to notch a last-gasp winner in a 4-3 win over Tottenham in April 2023.

The goal was made even sweeter by the fact that former Everton star Richarlison had celebrated his equaliser so vigorously just moments before and looked devastated when the winner was struck.

The former Wolves man drilled a low strike past Fraser Forster after a defensive mix-up from Spurs to send the Anfield crowd into pandemonium.

Liverpool 1-0 Everton2 April 2025

The Portuguese’s last strike before his untimely passing was in the 1-0 win over Everton in April that helped Liverpool seal the Premier League title.

The goal was another typical Jota strike, as he picked the ball up in the box, bundled past the Blues’ defence before slotting past Jordan Pickford.

The strike highlighted his tenacity, his willingness to win, and his ruthless nature in front of the goal, which endeared him to Reds supporters.

Number 20, scoring a crucial goal to seal their 20th title; it was written in the stars and is a fitting last contribution.
