Henderson in tears as Liverpool hero pays emotional tribute to Jota at Anfield

Jordan Henderson has been spotted in Liverpool to pay his respects to Diogo Jota.

The England international was captain of the Reds through the most successful period in recent history at Anfield, playing alongside the Portuguese star.

Between September 2020 and January 2024, the pair lined up together before the latter made a switch to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ettifaq.

Now the 35-year-old finds himself at Ajax, but he has put time aside to visit Merseyside to say goodbye to Jota, just as so many have done.

The footballing world still hasn’t gotten over the shock of the 28-year-old’s passing in a devastating car accident alongside his brother, Andre Silva.

As shocking and horrific as this was, it has certainly brought the best out of people, as tributes continue to flood in for the forward.

Teammates like Andy Robertson and Darwin Nunez have penned hugely emotional messages on social media, showing what kind of person Jota was.

This has once again been showcased by the raw emotion of Henderson after he was spotted at Anfield to pay his respects to the mural outside the L4 stadium.

Liverpool shared a video via X (4 July) of the midfielder crying after penning the book of condolence inside the ground as he waved an emotional goodbye to a teammate and friend.

Laying flowers in memory of Jota was the perfect way to do that for the former Reds captain as football continues to mourn the loss of the number 20.

Many people questioned for years why the Englishman was such a regular part of the Liverpool squad under Jurgen Klopp.

Those same people have continued to question why both Sir Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel have included him in their England squad regularly.
