‘Alexander-Arnold to regret Real Madrid move’ as expert shares update on talkSPORT
Trent Alexander-Arnold may already be regretting his departure from Liverpool.
It is fair to say that the England international is far from a popular figure on Merseyside after agreeing a pre-contract switch to Real Madrid.
Speaking near-perfect Spanish in his unveiling press conference didn’t help to change public opinion at Anfield, sparking further frustration.
With that being said, Alexander-Arnold may already be reeling for his days in red after a damming update emerged from Los Blancos.

Alexander-Arnold playing second fiddle at Real Madrid
Despite the general discontent among supporters in L4 around the right-back, many felt as if a move to the Bernabeu was impossible to turn down.
Although that may have been the case, it certainly represented a massive risk considering the change in manager from Carlo Ancelotti to Xabi Alonso over the summer.
This looks destined to have an impact on his playing time in the Spanish capital, something which will also be impacted by the quality of their squad.
Dani Carvajal represents a clear threat to the Englishman in Madrid, something which hasn’t been lost on Spanish football expert Terry Gibson.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (2 July, 07:08am), he said: “Carvajal is a better defender, and he does give you something going forward.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s strength is going forward. There are differences between the two, but I think Carvajal just edges it.”
If Alexander-Arnold is to spend his fair share of time on the bench in LaLiga, it is fair to imagine that a fair share of regret could surround his move away from Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold to struggle after Liverpool exit
As it stands, the Merseysider has been a regular at the Club World Cup despite not ripping up any trees for his new side in America.
Date | Club | Minutes played |
01/07/25 | Juventus | 90 |
27/06/25 | RB Salzburg | 90 |
22/06/25 | Pachuca | 78 |
18/06/25 | Al Hilal | 65 |
With that being said, the return of Carvajal could have a devastating impact on the upcoming season for the 26-year-old.
It is fair to say that there will be no sympathy from the Anfield faithful, especially after the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
