Warnock didn’t expect Harvey Elliott to do what he did in England U21s win
Liverpool ace Harvey Elliott certainly caught the eye for England U21s on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old started as the young lions faced off against bitter rivals Germany in the under-21s European Championship final on 28 June.
Lee Carsley’s faith in the attacking midfielder paid off as he grabbed the opener after just five minutes to add to his brace from the semi-final.
With links to away from Anfield continuing to bubble under the surface, the attacking midfielder managed to leave former Red Stephen Warnock surprised while watching on in Bratislava.

Warnock surprised by Liverpool ace Elliott v Germany U21s
There has been no shortage of transfer links at this stage of the window in L4, with a number of star names already coming in.
This may get even better once the calendar ticks over into July, and with the U21 EUROs now having reached its conclusion.
There is every chance that a move away from Merseyside could be on the cards with Elliott, with Aston Villa and West Ham showing an interest.
This has only been enhanced after a sizable club record fee was splashed out on Germany international Florian Wirtz.
It appears that this may have inspired the ex-Fulham man to hit his best level after netting five goals in the summer tournament.

Having done so in the final with just minutes on the clock, it is fair to say that Warnock was left surprised while speaking on BBC Radio Five Live (28 June, 08:08pm).
He said: “Harvey Elliott started the move on the right-hand side, and it fell into the path of Omari Hutchinson. The keeper made a great save, and I am thinking, ‘hit it first time,’ but he doesn’t.
“He takes a touch with his left foot, another with his right, and he gives the defender on the line the eyes.”

It says a lot about the player Elliott is that he showcased such a high level despite the potential of leaving the Reds in the coming weeks and months.
There is every chance that Arne Slot has replaced him in the squad on Merseyside and is in need of a sale to balance out his squad.
With the wealth of attacking talent in the squad, including Mo Salah, Luis Diaz and of course the new addition of Wirtz, it would be no negative for him to be moved on.
His performances in the tournament will certainly catch the eye of many top sides, just as he caught the eye of Warnock for all the right reasons.
