‘Liverpool to close curtains’ with blockbuster Marc Guehi transfer next
Liverpool’s first-team squad will look very different by the time the opening day of the new Premier League season comes around.
The Reds will be well aware that their rivals will be hunting them down after such a comfortable title win, and they have countered that by strengthening key areas of the squad with big-money additions.
Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have both come through the door in recent weeks, and now Marc Guehi could be set to follow them to Anfield.
The Crystal Palace star has been a long-term target for the Merseysiders, and now it finally looks like they could be about to get their man.

Liverpool to open Guehi talks ‘in the next 24 hours’
Liverpool’s pursuit of Guehi has received added urgency following news of Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain future.
The Frenchman could leave for free when his contract expires at the end of the season, which places even more importance on Liverpool ensuring they get the Guehi deal over the line.
It now looks as though Arne Slot could be about to get a crucial addition to his defence, with the Daily Mirror (28 June) reporting that Liverpool will open talks with Palace in the next 24 hours.
The champions are believed to be in prime position to sign the England international ahead of the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle.
The 24-year-old’s contract has just one year left to run in South London, so Palace are believed to be accepting of the fact that they won’t receive a fee in the region of their initial £70million demand.
It is also understood that if Liverpool can secure Guehi’s signature, it would likely mark the end of their summer transfer business.

Guehi would be an excellent addition for Liverpool
Liverpool’s centre back department could be set to undergo plenty of change this year, with Jarrell Quansah also set to leave the Reds.
However, bringing in Guehi would hand Slot another top Premier League defender.
The former Chelsea youngster has established himself as one of the division’s most consistent centre halves, and he shone last summer in England’s run to the final of the European Championships.

His performances have seen him destined to move to one of the country’s biggest clubs for a long while now, and finally looks as if that could be coming to fruition.
Guehi is also only just turning 25, so he could be at the heart of the backline in L4 for several years to come.
When you then throw in the fact that the Reds could be getting him for a cut-price fee compared to Palace’s initial demands, it would be an outstanding way to cap off their business for the summer.
