‘Konate exit now closer than ever’ as Liverpool close in on major new transfer

Liverpool have already spent heavily this summer, and this ambitious window is now set to continue.

Milos Kerkez is the latest player to arrive at Anfield after Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, and more are set to follow.

Liverpool could lose several defenders, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jarell Quansah already agreeing deals elsewhere, and the situation of Ibrahima Konate remains an issue.

Konate has entered the final year of his contract, and with negotiations not progressing well, Liverpool may have already found his replacement.

Liverpool could be on verge of Guehi transfer

Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, and a deal could now be closer than ever.

DavidOCKOP (26 June) has now reported that Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign Guehi, who is in the final year of his contract at Palace.

A deal is expected to be around the £45-50 million mark, in what can be considered a coup given that other Premier League sides were interested in him.

Guehi has been a standout performer for Palace, but Liverpool may have rushed to complete a deal quickly given the uncertainty over Konate.

Guehi’s quick arrival could lead to Konate exit

Konate recently rejected Liverpool’s first contract proposal, with it reported that he was unhappy at the structure of the salary which was heavily performance incentivised.

With one year remaining on his deal and Real Madrid interested, Liverpool will need to make a quick decision on Konate to potentially sell him if he does not agree a new deal.

It is claimed that Guehi expects to play regularly at Liverpool, which will make Konate’s exit likelier as neither player will be content with a bench role.

While Guehi will replace Quansah in the squad, he is a starting-calibre defender unlike the youngster, who will arrive with a lot of experience under his belt.

The fact Liverpool have pushed to get this done quickly, with pre-season training not even commencing yet, may indicate that Konate is on his way out, and the best possible replacement has been sought after in anticipation of his exit.
