Liverpool to be ‘inundated with offers’ after remarkable Elliott scenes

Harvey Elliott could seek a fresh adventure this summer after a miserable campaign at Liverpool.

The 22-year-old is one of the most promising talents in the Premier League but barely featured as the Reds lifted the title.

The England Under-21 star played just 360 minutes as Arne Slot struggled to find a place in the team for him.

He has admitted that his future could lie away from Anfield and a £40million offer could tempt the Merseysiders to part ways with Elliott.

Liverpool to receive Elliott offers after England antics

The Liverpool star is the second top goalscorer in the U21 European Championships after he notched two goals in the semi-final against the Netherlands, taking his tally to four.

The former Fulham academy graduate was instrumental in the Three Lions’ progression to the final, notching two brilliant strikes in the contest.

The midfielder smashed home the opener on Wednesday (25 June) before a beautiful driving run and finish to put his side ahead again after Noah Ohio had equalised.

Former Reds ace Joe Cole believes that the L4 outfit will be inundated with offers for their star boy after the stunning scenes in Slovakia.

Speaking on Channel 4 (25 June, 7:12pm), he said: “He is 22, he has played football but i still think there is more to come from him.

“Performing like he has done at this tournament, I think there will be teams all around Europe now looking for Harvey Elliott’s agent’s number and thinking maybe he is going to be right for them.”

Elliott sale could be a mistake for Liverpool

It is understandable that Elliott wishes to leave. He has the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz ahead of him in the pecking order, after all.

However, letting him leave could be a huge mistake for Slot and Co., especially if he develops into an elite player at a rival top-flight club.

A move seems to be the likely outcome and would suit both parties at the moment but Fenway Sports Group may need to think longer term before making a decision that they will regret.

Player development is not linear, players develop at different rates, and Elliott may just need a consistent run of games to get his form back, and his latest exploits with the national team suggest that is the case.

He is more than capable of playing a significant role next season, whether he gets the chance or not, remains to be seen.
