Liverpool news round-up: Konate contract fury as Anfield exit confirmed

Liverpool are set to continue their activity in the summer transfer window.

Arne Slot’s side have already confirmed deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, with Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez expected to follow.

However, several departures could also be on the cards as Fenway Sports Group seeks to balance the books to give the Dutchman even more additions to try and retain their Premier League crown.

Here, Liverpool News rounds up the latest Anfield updates from 24 June.

Chiesa departure latest amid Gattuso outburst

Federico Chiesa looks primed to leave Liverpool after the latest outburst from new Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso.

The Italian featured just 14 times for Slot’s side last season and has been linked with a return to his homeland, with the likes of AC Milan and Napoli interested.

Gattuso spoke about the Reds star in his introductory press conference, saying: “Chiesa needs to play more, that’s important. Our doors will always be open to him, but we want Fede to play regularly.”

Woltemade to pass Liverpool medical

Liverpool have been linked with Nick Woltemade, but face competition from Premier League rivals for his signature.

The Stuttgart striker is currently the leading goalscorer at the U21 European Championships with five goals and would cost around £42million.

For that amount of money, Slot and Co will want to make sure that he is fit enough to lead the line.

Dr Rajpal Brar told Liverpool News that the 23-year-old would pass an Anfield medical with flying colours, saying: “He played 28 league games and did not face any injury issues.

“He should clear his medical without any trouble.

“However, as he’s moving from a different country, he will need a gradual acclimatisation to the new conditions both on and off the pitch to avoid the immediate risk of injury.“

Konate exit developments cause Liverpool fury

Liverpool supporters are concerned about Ibrahima Konate after the latest contract developments with the French star.

The 25-year-old is out of contract, and fans have been left fearing another Trent Alexander-Arnold situation.

A report from The Guardian (23 June) claimed that talks with Konate have stalled, and the Reds ace is unhappy with the latest offer.

Supporters have urged the L4 outfit to get rid of the defender this summer after the worrying update emerged.

Nat Phillips leaves Liverpool amid multi-million developments

Nat Phillips has finally left Liverpool after multiple loan spells away from Anfield.

The 28-year-old’s departure to West Brom has been confirmed, and the Reds are set to bank a decent fee for the defender.

Mail Sport journalist Lewis Steele reported (23 June) that the deal will see the Merseysiders earn around £3m with add-ons.
