Virgil van Dijk ‘spotted with De Bruyne and Ronaldo’ after crazy transfer scenes
Virgil van Dijk was instrumental in Liverpool winning the Premier League last season.
The Dutchman was again the best centre half in the league last year and shows no signs of slowing down despite being 33 years old.
Extending van Dijk’s contract was an essential piece of business conducted by Liverpool as the defender is still operating at a world-class level.
The Reds’ defence could get even better next season if Marc Guehi joins the champions, with Liverpool linked with a move for the Crystal Palace defender.

Van Dijk spotted with De Bruyne following his move to Napoli
Liverpool have a tough decision to make regarding the future of Ibrahima Konaté, with the Frenchman rejecting the club’s latest contract offer as the defender enters the last year of his current deal.
Van Dijk will be hoping that the future of his centre-back partner is cleared up while he is away relaxing over the summer. The Liverpool legend posted a picture of himself with De Bruyne and Brazilian icon, Ronaldo, on his personal Instagram account (22 June).
De Bruyne recently left Manchester City and signed for Napoli.
The midfielder was met with chaotic scenes in Naples as the supporters came out in vast numbers to welcome their new player. De Bruyne played a significant role in the rivalry between Liverpool and City over recent years as Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola battled for the title season after season.
Seeing the Belgian grace the Anfield turf in the blue of Napoli instead of City will take some getting used to for Liverpool supporters if the sides clash in European competition next season.
Florian Wirtz could become Liverpool’s De Bruyne
For the vast majority of De Bruyne’s stint in the Premier League, he was considered to be the best midfielder in the division.
While Klopp had solid workers in his midfield in the form of Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum for most of his spell in charge, neither player was anywhere near the level of the Belgian playmaker.
Klopp attempted to change this by signing Thiago; however, his injury issues meant his Anfield career never really took off.
Now with an ageing De Bruyne leaving England and Florian Wirtz moving to Merseyside, it is Liverpool with the world-class creative spark in their midfield, not Manchester City.
The German could prove to be the difference between the two sides as Arne Slot attempts to retain the Premier League in his second season in charge.
