Jurgen Klopp speaks out after ‘exceptional’ Liverpool transfer agreement
Jürgen Klopp has spoken out after Liverpool confirmed a brand-new arrival at Anfield.
Liverpool have already made some exciting moves in the summer transfer window, with Jeremie Frimpong joining from Bayern Leverkusen early doors.
Milos Kerkez is expected to follow as Arne Slot looks to defend the Reds’ Premier League title next season.
And one signing could certainly help Liverpool do just that, with former manager Klopp sharing his thoughts.
Liverpool confirm arrival of Florian Wirtz
Fenway Sports Group appear ready to back Slot at Liverpool, with the Reds recently announcing the club-record signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
After Liverpool confirmed the signing of Wirtz on Friday (20th June), Klopp gave his reaction. Speaking to NTV News (21 June), the German said, “Liverpool is a fantastic team that was already outstanding last season.
“It is very difficult to strengthen when you are a champion, but Liverpool have managed it. With Florian Wirtz, you have committed an extraordinary talent.”
FSG have spent £166.78m this summer already, with the window opening on 1 June.
Klopp will always be a legend of Liverpool
Klopp achieved a lot with Liverpool, and fans were sad to see him go when he did. The former Borussia Dortmund manager helped the Reds win their first-ever Premier League title, while also ending the wait for a sixth UEFA Champions League.
In addition to winning the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, Klopp also came close to adding more Premier League and Champions League titles on several occasions
Not only did he win trophies, but he also fostered a passionate atmosphere at Liverpool among the fans and players and helped to develop some top talent, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With Slot now in charge, he can build on Klopp’s legacy and take Liverpool even further with the backing from the owners.
However, it is interesting to think just how much Klopp might have achieved with the level of backing FSG are showing Slot this summer, although it appears the former Liverpool boss isn’t mad about this.
