Wataru Endo reacts to confirmed Liverpool transfer news

Wataru Endo has been linked with a Liverpool exit this summer.

The Japanese midfielder was forced to settle for a bit-part role under Arne Slot, featuring 20 times in the Premier League-winning campaign.

However, he has confirmed that he intends to stay at Anfield and fight for trophies rather than leave for regular game time and it is no surprise given the Reds’ business so far.

Endo reacts as Liverpool finalise Wirtz transfer

Liverpool announced the signing of Florian Wirtz on Friday (20 June) in a deal that is worth an initial £100million, with a potential £16m in add-ons.

The Reds took to Instagram to confirm the deal with a post captioned “From Leverkusen to Liverpool”.

Current Anfield stars Alexis Mac Allister, Alisson, Luis Diaz and Wataru Endo liked the post confirming the arrival of the German star.

Legendary striker Ian Rush also liked the announcement.

Liverpool set to dominate after Wirtz capture

The signing of the 22-year-old gives Slot’s side the edge in their attempts to defend their title next season.

Wirtz notched 10 goals and 12 assists in 31 Bundesliga matches last season and was one of the most sought-after players in world football, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City also chasing his signature.

However, Liverpool beat both of their rivals to his signature in a major coup for the Merseysiders, as he was expected to join the Bavarians.

Fenway Sports Group have backed Slot to build on his success in his first season, with deals for Jeremie Frimpong and his former Bayer Leverkusen teammate, and Milos Kerkez seemingly set to follow.

The Reds’ business may not stop there either, as the likes of Jarell Quansah and Darwin Nunez could depart, leaving potential vacancies at centre-back and striker, which new signings could fill.

It promises to be a very exciting summer and campaign for supporters, and the L4 outfit will be the favourites to retain their crown and potentially taste Champions League success.

It is telling how excited the Reds squad are about the Wirtz deal. He is a top-quality addition and could be the difference-maker in their pursuit of multiple trophies.
