Virgil van Dijk reacts to Quansah message away from Liverpool

Jarell Quansah has been heavily linked with a Liverpool exit this summer.

The 22-year-old endured a difficult campaign under Arne Slot, making just 13 appearances in the Premier League-winning season.

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly close to luring the academy graduate away from Anfield in a potential £34million deal.

Liverpool ace Quansah has a mixed evening in England success

The likes of Quansah, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton starred in the England Under-21s’ win over Spain on Saturday (21 June).

The young defender notched an assist for Elliott’s strike to put his side two goals ahead but also gave away a penalty which allowed the opposition to pull one back.

Ultimately, though, the Three Lions youngsters would make it into the European Championship semi-finals with a last-gasp penalty of their own to make it 3-1.

Quansah took to Instagram after the contest, saying: “Get in, semi-final.”

Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Conor Bradley all liked the post and the latter also commented with a clapping hands and a heart emoji.

Quansah can shine away from Liverpool

It would be unfortunate to lose Quansah as he is still one of the most promising young centre-backs in the game.

However, if he wants regular game time, the Reds cannot deny his exit, as he will not get it over the likes of Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

The reported fee would help the L4 outfit to reinvest in the squad after huge outlays on Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, with a deal for Milos Kerkez also expected to be completed in the near future.

The likes of Quansah and Elliott have struggled for regular minutes under Slot after previously being favourites of Jurgen Klopp, and their exits make sense for both players.

Morton has a lot of talent but has been unable to force his way into either Klopp’s or Slot’s team, so it would not be a surprise if he also departed in the transfer window.

It is a shame to lose such quality youth talents, but if they cannot find their way into the team regularly, then they cannot be kept around to rot on the bench.
