Tsimikas set to leave as ‘inside track’ suggested from Liverpool – Exclusive

Kostas Tsimikas could be set to leave Liverpool this summer.

The Greek star featured 18 times in the Premier League title-winning campaign, but only started nine times with Andy Robertson ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 29-year-old has been linked with an Anfield exit, with the likes of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest interested.

However, he admitted that he wishes to remain with Arne Slot’s side in a backup role rather than start somewhere else but the decision may not be in his hands.

Tsimikas tipped for Liverpool exit amid Kerkez news

Milos Kerkez looks set to seal a move to the Reds, which could spell disaster for the Greek international’s hopes of staying on Merseyside.

Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that Tsimikas will depart and that he would be a solid signing for a newly-promoted team.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “I’m not sure what the inside track is within the club, but you would think that with Milos Kerkez’s signing from Bournemouth, it will be him and Robertson competing for the position.

“So, yes, it does look like he would become surplus to requirements, and of course, clubs do have to sort of balance the books and there has been a throughput of players.

“I think while he hasn’t been a sensational signing for Liverpool, he has proved to be quite a useful one to rotate Robertson, here and there.

“I think he is the kind of players who would be a good signing for one of the promoted clubs.”

Liverpool should keep Robertson over Tsimikas

Tsimikas is a beloved figure among Reds supporters, having embraced the club and the city and made 115 appearances in five years.

He has proved to be a dependable backup option but deserves to be playing on a weekly basis and the Reds could recoup a decent fee for his services.

If one was to stay and fight for a place with the new addition, Slot would surely rather have Robertson, as he is more experienced and the better player.

It remains to be seen what happens at left-back but it is sure to be an exciting summer in L4.
