‘FSG deserve huge praise’ after major Jarell Quansah exit news at Liverpool
Jarell Quansah is on the verge of leaving Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen, with a deal now agreed between the two clubs.
Florian Wirtz recently moved to Anfield from Leverkusen for a record fee, but the Reds will already recoup a chunk of the money as Quansah departs.
The defender struggled for game time at Liverpool last season and will hope to play regularly under former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in Germany.
Quansah is a hugely promising talent. However, he has failed to hit his best form at Liverpool, and after a season where his minutes were limited, the Reds have agreed to a rather favourable sale.

Liverpool insert buy-back clause for Quansah
Liverpool have been excellent at maximising their transfer income under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), but Quansah’s upcoming move to Leverkusen is one of their most impressive sales yet.
Despite a reduced role last season, Quansah’s exit will see Liverpool pocket an initial £30milllion, with £5m extra in add-ons, which will count as pure profit on a homegrown player.
Those who hoped to see Quansah succeed at Anfield may still have their wish in the future, as, according to Fabrizio Romano (22 June), Liverpool will have a buy-back clause for Quansah, which means they could yet bring the defender back to Anfield.
Quansah sale is a no-brainer for Liverpool
The huge fee for Quansah was somewhat unexpected given his inconsistent form in the last two seasons, and his exit could fund a move for a top-quality upgrade in Marc Guehi.
FSG and Michael Edwards already deserve praise for negotiating such an impressive deal, but this transfer becomes even more remarkable following the revelation of a buy-back clause.
If Quansah succeeds and reaches his potential, Liverpool will be able to bring him back, either to succeed at Anfield or to sell him on again.
Suppose Quansah cannot find his best form at Leverkusen. In that case, Liverpool will have sold him for peak value after a season in which he was a backup, and there are absolutely no downsides to this sale, which will almost certainly go down as one of the best in recent history as a result.
