Curtis Jones sends two-word message to Tyler Morton after England U21s blow

Curtis Jones has excelled under boss Arne Slot this season, helping him establish himself as a senior England player.

This summer, the European Championships are on for the England Under-21s and the likes of Harvey Elliot, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton are all featuring for the Young Lions.

Despite a tough group stage that yielded four points from nine available, they see themselves in the quarter-finals.

Morton gears up for next England U21s test

England Under-21s kicked off their European campaign with a 3-1 win against Czechia last Thursday before drawing with 0-0 Slovenia and losing to Germany to finish second in their group, with Morton featuring in that 2-1 defeat.

They will now play in the quarter-finals against Spain on Saturday, 21 June.

Liverpool midfielder Jones gave his support to Morton after a tough end to England’s group stage.

Morton posted on Instagram: “Onto the quarters.”

Jones replied with: “Top player.”

Teammates often show support from afar, using social media to back each other during key moments.

Morton featured for Liverpool this season in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven in the group stage.

The 22-year-old was named in Slot’s squad for the full tournament, except for the round of 16, where he was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

Curtis Jones flourished under Slot

The 24-year-old made 46 appearances in all competitions under new boss Slot this season.

This is more than he ever did under ex-boss Jurgen Klopp.

Last season, Slot only made one summer signing in Federico Chiesa and developed the players he needed from Klopp’s side, with Jones being one of his key players last season.

Jones made nine goal contributions last season in all competitions and he was one goal or assist away from doubling his digits for the first time in his career.

The midfielders’ performances show how well of a boss Slot is as he has hit new heights for not only his club, but he is now regularly in the England picture and will be hoping to be in the squad for the 2026 World Cup next summer.
