Liverpool odds slashed to sign Isak amid Newcastle exit development

Liverpool have come flying out of the traps this summer as they look to bolster their squad for next season.

Once the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are confirmed, the Reds’ spending spree is set to break the £200million mark.

In one of the most hectic summers in Liverpool’s history, Fenway Sports Group don’t look like stopping, with a striker next on the list.

One name that has constantly been linked with a move to Anfield is Alexander Isak.

The Newcastle striker has been a revelation on Tyneside since joining in 2022, scoring 54 goals in 86 Premier League games and helping lead the Geordies to their first trophy in 70 years last season.

Liverpool have admired Isak for a while now, having been described as their “dream” signing, and the latest update has failed to quell the rumours.

Liverpool ready to break the British transfer record again for Isak

Florian Wirtz’s move to Anfield is set to break the British transfer record, but that record could be under threat almost immediately.

Ben Jacobs (via GMS) has reported that Liverpool are ready to shatter the record for the second time this window for Isak.

Funds from the proposed sale of Darwin Nunez would go towards a deal for the Swede.

The deal depends on the forward indicating that he wants to move to Merseyside.

As a result, Bet365 have slashed their odds to 7/2 for Isak to move to Anfield.

Liverpool are clear favourites to sign the Swedish superstar should he leave St. James’ Park, although he is still odds-on favourite to stay in the North East.

Isak immediately makes Liverpool clear title favourites

Liverpool won the Premier League easily last season, and this window is already worrying for rival fans.

One of Arne Slot’s main issues last season was a lack of a clear centre-forward option, with Luis Diaz playing up front for large parts of the season.

Isak is one of the best strikers in the game right now, as shown by his terrorising of the Reds in the Carabao Cup final in March.

The ex-Real Sociedad man would arguably make Liverpool the most complete team in the country, and clear favourites to win back-to-back titles for the first time since 1984.

This would be a title-winning move from the Premier League Champions.
