Liverpool could be set to enter the race to sign Ollie Watkins.

Arne Slot is looking to bolster his attack with Darwin Nunez set to leave Anfield this summer.

The Reds have already signed Jeremie Frimpong for £29.3million, while Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are also set to move to Merseyside.

Hugo Ekitike is heavily linked with a move to Anfield, but Watkins could be an alternative target.

Watkins, 29, enjoyed another great season at Villa Park, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists in the Premier League.

However, the England international saw his game time limited at times by Jhon Duran and Marcus Rashford, leading to rumours of his departure.

Aston Villa make Watkins available for just £60m

Arsenal are still favourites to sign Watkins should he leave Aston Villa this summer, but Liverpool's chances appear to have increased.

As per William Hill (June 17), the Reds have been slashed to 12/1 to secure the striker this summer, but staying at Villa Park is the odds-on favourite.

Liverpool could make a move as they can offer Champions League football, which isn't on the table at Villa after they missed out on the top five on the final day.

The Villans seek £60m to part ways with their talismanic striker this summer.

Liverpool need to move quickly before Arsenal sneak in for Watkins

Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Watkins, having seen a bid in January turned down by Villa.

According to widespread reports, the Gunners are expected to return for the striker this summer if their attempts to sign Viktor Gyokeres fail.

Should the Premier League champions want Watkins, they must act fast.

Watkins will bring a goal-scoring threat, which Liverpool desperately needs down the middle, after both Nunez and Diogo Jota have endured tough seasons under Slot.

The former Brentford man will get chances galore at Anfield with Mohamed Salah supplying him, who created the most big chances in the Premier League with 27.

Watkins's transfer to Anfield is unlikely, but Liverpool would be getting a bargain if they made a move.
