Liverpool ready ‘game-changing’ Fofana signing as transfer update drops
Malick Fofana has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer after impressing at Lyon.
The 20-year-old winger is seen as one of the brightest talents in Ligue 1 after another successful season.
With Luis Diaz linked away from Liverpool, the attacker has been touted as a potential replacement.
Arne Slot has made it no secret that he wants to revamp the Reds’ options up front this summer as Florian Wirtz edges closer to completing his move to Liverpool.
Now, more reinforcements could be on their way to Anfield.

Fofana signing could ‘revolutionise’ Liverpool
Liverpool have made a habit of turning young stars into world-class players throughout their history, and now, the Reds are aiming to repeat this feat.
According to L’Equipe (16 June), Liverpool are in pole position to sign Fofana this summer.
The Reds are poised to submit an offer “as soon as they have sold an attacking player,” with Slot stepping up his interest in the attacker.
If Liverpool do get the signing over the line, he would be a game-changer.
At just 20 years old, Fofana netted 11 times last season and helped Lyon reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
On top of this, Fbref (17 June) shows that the attacker is one of the top players in multiple areas compared to other stars in his position.
On average last season, per 90 minutes, he was averaging 0.47 non-penalty goals, 0.21 assists, making 6.72 progressive carries and 6.08 touches in the opposition penalty area.
Malick Fofana stats last season per 90 minutes | Stats | Compared to other wingers and attacking midfielders |
Non-penalty goals | 0.47 | Top 10 per cent |
Assists | 0.21 | Top 39 per cent |
Progressive Carries | 6.72 | Top two per cent |
Touches in the opposition penalty box | 6.08 | Top 16 per cent |
For many of these, he is in the top 10 per cent compared to other wingers and attacking midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues.
If Liverpool can sign Fofana and harness his potential, he could revolutionise their attack and eventually be Slot’s main man, once Mohamed Salah leaves.

Liverpool need to go all out for Fofana
Slot needs to ensure that Fofana is a Liverpool player by the transfer window’s end.
A player of his ability at just 20 years old is extremely rare, and the winger has every chance of becoming one of the best players in the world in the future.
With other Premier League sides eyeing up Fofana, Liverpool simply cannot lose this race and should go all out for his signature.
Hopefully, Slot understands this and gets the signing over the line as soon as possible.
