Liverpool cannot sanction ‘humiliating’ Atletico Madrid demand for Robertson
Andy Robertson’s long-term future at Liverpool looks bleaker with every passing day.
The Scotland captain has been part of a golden age at Anfield, winning every trophy possible.
However, with Liverpool looking to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, the 31-year-old’s future is in doubt.
Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Robertson, but their demands could make a deal between the two clubs tricky.

Atletico Madrid want Robertson ‘for free’
The full-back was a key part of the squad that won the Premier League title under Arne Slot.
This is despite Robertson being less impressive for Liverpool, with many poor defensive displays.
Nevertheless, the Scot is a massive player in the dressing room and could well be a big loss for the Reds this summer.
Therefore, when it was reported this week that Atletico want Robertson “for free” this summer, it comes across as an outrageous demand.
“Atletico Madrid are looking for a left-back. The dream target, the top target, for the left-back position is Andy Robertson at Liverpool,” Romano said on his YouTube channel (14 June).
“From what I understand, Robertson already opened his doors to the possibility. Andy Robertson will be keen to move to Atletico Madrid, try to move to Spain.
“But, an important point to mention is that Atletico Madrid hope to get a deal done for free – with the player leaving Liverpool on good terms with a green light from the club or with a small fee.
“This is the hope of Atletico Madrid, that Liverpool will give an answer to that.”
As good as Robertson has been for Liverpool, it would be humiliating if the Merseyside club let one of their best players leave for free.
The Scot still has a year left on his deal and could easily play a big role next season.
On top of this, Atletico are not exactly short of money and are currently competing in the Club World Cup.
Simply put, this demand from the Spanish giants is ridiculous. Atletico are Liverpool’s Champions League rivals, and strengthening them for little to no transfer fee would be stupid.
Slot would not get any benefit on the pitch for being sentimental to Robertson and must demand a fee that represents his value to the Merseyside club.
Robertson could still play a big role at Liverpool next season
Even if Liverpool do sign Kerkez, Robertson could still play a big role for the Reds.
Slot will be aiming to win five trophies next season, and rotation will no doubt be needed to achieve this.

On top of this, if Kerkez gets injured, Robertson would be an excellent player to come in and replace the Hungarian.
Hopefully Slot sees this, and if the Scot is allowed to leave, enough money will be brought in to sign a competitive back-up.
