Chiesa ‘cannot be blamed’ as Man United legend to offer Liverpool escape route

Federico Chiesa’s future is increasingly uncertain after just one season at Liverpool.

The Reds won their 20th Premier League title during Arne Slot’s first season in charge on Merseyside.

Fenway Sports Group are prepared to support the Dutchman as Liverpool look to defend their title next season, with the Anfield outfit closing in on a record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz.

However, money will need to be raised from player sales to fund this pursuit, and a Manchester United legend could now offer Chiesa an exit route from Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær wants to bring Chiesa to Beşiktaş

As reported by Calcio Mercato (15th June), Beşiktaş are exploring a deal for Chiesa as they look to bolster their squad and fight for the Süper Lig title next season.

This could see the Liverpool outcast link up with a Manchester United legend, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær currently in charge of Beşiktaş.

Solskjær scored 126 goals for Manchester United in 366 appearances and managed the Red Devils between 2018 and 2021.

With Liverpool agreeing a deal for Wirtz, Slot will need to make way for the record signing, meaning the sale of Chiesa makes sense.

The 27-year-old impressed many with his performances in Italy before his Liverpool move. However, he’s found it difficult to hit the same heights in the Premier League.

Therefore, it would be difficult to blame the forward for leaving Anfield as he looks to rebuild his career, even if it means linking up with a Manchester United legend in the process.

Liverpool have to get rid of deadwood in the summer

After a season on Merseyside, Slot will know who he wants in his squad. Despite signing Chiesa last summer, it is clear that the Liverpool boss does not rate the Italian.

The Premier League will be even more competitive next season, and bringing in Wirtz for Chiesa would be excellent business for Liverpool.

While Chiesa was a star signing for Liverpool last season, he has only managed two starts for the Reds. Therefore, a sale makes sense, and although things did not work out in the Premier League, Chiesa will hope to return to his best at his next club.
