Aston Villa urged to step in as Osimhen to Liverpool transfer advances
Liverpool are lining up a high-profile striker signing amid growing rumours of Darwin Nunez’s potential exit this summer.
Other departures at Anfield this summer could occur, with Harvey Elliot, Luis Diaz and Jarell Quansah all rumoured to be moving away.
Liverpool have already sold Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher; however, they have brought in newcomers Jeremie Frimpong and Ármin Pécs as their replacements.
Victor Osimhen is reportedly next in line to walk through Anfield’s entrance, with talks already underway.

Gabby Agbonlahor wants to see Osimhen at Aston Villa
There have been reports that Liverpool have already held meetings to sign Osimhen.
However, ex-Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (13th June) he would like to see Osimhen at Villa.
Agbonlahor said: “I would love him at Villa. You know what you get with Osimhen, he’s a talented striker.
“He turned down Saudi Arabia, and if he is going to leave Galatasaray, what’s the problem with the Premier League snapping him up? Is it wages?”
Osimhen reportedly earns £300k a week at Galatasaray, which could complicate a move to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is currently spending the season on loan at Galatasaray; meanwhile, his contract with Serie A club Napoli remains valid until 2026.
Galatasaray | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Victor Osimhen | 41 | 37 | 6 |
For Osimhen, it does not matter what league he is playing in – he always has the finishing touch.
In his last 57 games for Napoli in Serie A between the 2022-2023 season and 2023-2024, he has scored 41 goals.

Victor Osimhen | 25 | 15 | 3 |
Is Osimhen a Núñez replacement for Liverpool?
The creative threat Liverpool could have next season could help Núñez thrive, but positioning has never been his issue; finishing the chances has been.
It doesn’t matter how many inch-perfect passes he gets, boss Arne Slot does not trust him.
Last season in the Premier League, Núñez had 34 shots, eight big chances missed and five goals.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Liverpool | 143 | 40 | 26 |
Osimhen would be a Núñez replacement, the same position but a different outcome each game.
The Nigerian can finish, hold the ball up, is outstanding in the air and has pace, strength and athleticism.
