Exclusive: Liverpool could agree ‘PSR-forced player sale to Everton’

Liverpool could be set to sell Jarell Quansah to Everton in the upcoming window.

The England under-21 international has played a bit-part role for the Reds under Arne Slot since the Dutchman’s introduction in L4.

As a result, there is every chance that the 22-year-old could assess his options away from Anfield as the summer looms.

A switch to Everton has already been mooted to Merseyside rivals in a deal that would be heavily scrutinised due to the sizable rivalry between the two sides.

Liverpool to assess Everton move for Quansah

As it stands, the Premier League champions will be keen to add to their squad to help mount a title defence moving into the new season.

With that being said, there is likely to be a number of big-name signings which could have a telling impact on the squad and its depth.

If that were to be the case, fringe players like Quansah could see their futures lying elsewhere as they go in search of regular first-team minutes.

This has been shown by Kostas Tsimikas’ desire to leave this summer, and the Greece international could be joined out the exit door by the centre-back.

This comes after a series of links to Everton, who may have to pay upwards of £29million for the signature of the Englishman this summer [Caught Offside, 26 May].

A move to the blue side of Merseyside would certainly be controversial, but former Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen believes rivalry can’t get in the way of a potentially positive deal financially.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Allen said: “It would all depend on Quansah’s demands to leave, if he says, ‘I’m not happy, I need first team football.’

He wouldn’t have to move house [if he joined Everton], he could stay in the area, which is important to some people.

He’s a good player, would he be a good signing for Everton? Definitely. Would Liverpool let him go? I very much doubt it because of their Champions League games, plus the other cups, managers need 22 players who can all play, and he certainly can.

The rivalry could stop that kind of deal happening, they could say, ‘We don’t want to sell to them,’ but if it helps Liverpool’s PSR situation, they’ve got to look past the fact that it’s across Stanley Park to Everton.

Quansah could join Everton from Liverpool

There is no doubt that it would be bizarre to see players move between the Merseyside rivals, but it could prove to make sense.

Quansah would be a useful addition for the Toffees, in a move which could afford the Reds an opportunity to steal Jarrad Branthwaite.

This could see this duo become the 10th and 11th players to have played for both L4 clubs, in what has become a rarity in recent years.

It is fair to say that Slot’s side would benefit from this sort of agreement, regardless of any fan discourse surrounding such a move.
