Szoboszlai exit claim made as Liverpool line up ‘outstanding’ Wirtz transfer
Dominik Szoboszlai could face an uncertain future at Liverpool if Florian Wirtz signs.
The Reds look to be edging closer towards the Premier League record signing of the Germany international, ready for the summer window.
After winning the league last season, Arne Slot isn’t messing around in adding potentially elite quality to his squad, ready for the new campaign.
As positive as this may be for the L4 club, it has certainly caused some uncertainty surrounding Szoboszlai after two seasons in English football.

Szoboszlai future in jeporady at Liverpool
The Hungary international certainly possesses qualities which could make him one of the most important players in the squad at Anfield.
It is fair to say that he’s failed to showcase that on a regular basis, and could struggle if Wirtz were to come in from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Stats | Dominik Szoboszlai |
Appearances | 94 |
Goals | 15 |
Assists | 12 |
With the 22-year-old set to cost well over £100million, there is every chance that Szoboszlai is moved on to help fund a move for the number 10.
That could prove to be a blow for the Reds with former Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen believing the Hungarian should remain at Liverpool for the better of the squad.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Allen said: “I’ve seen Szoboszlai play, and I think he’s a really good player, I really like him.
“He’s still got good years ahead of him. There’s no way that they can sell him right now.
“I’ve seen Wirtz play for Bayer Leverkusen, and he’s an outstanding footballer.
“It’s a lot of money, but he is outstanding. If they sign him, they are getting a top-quality player, and when you’re at the very top, you’ve got to try and improve your starting 11 and the whole team.
“He will add something to that Liverpool team, there’s no doubt about that.“

Wirtz could replace Szoboszlai at Liverpool
Everyone associated with the Reds will be keen to see the German lineup and have an impact in the Premier League next season.
Coming off the back of a campaign where the 22-year-old contributed to 30 goals in all competitions, Wirtz will command regular minutes on Merseyside.
This could be to the detriment of Szoboszlai, with the Hungarian potentially set to be the fall guy as opposed to Alexis Mac Allister.
