Darwin Nunez ready to quit Liverpool now as new transfer contact emerges

Liverpool could be set to make some ruthless sales this summer, and Darwin Nunez is one player who looks destined for the exit.

Nunez has had a mixed time at Liverpool since his club-record transfer from Benfica in 2022, and has fallen down the pecking order under Arne Slot.

The Uruguayan has had some big moments at Anfield, but is not trusted as a reliable option in front of goal, with Liverpool now set to cash in.

Nunez is of interest to clubs in Saudi Arabia, and there has now been a key development regarding a potential move.

Nunez open to Saudi Arabia move

Nunez’s stance is now clear, as he is open to moving to Saudi Arabia, bringing his time at Liverpool to an end.

Santi Aouna has now reported that Al-Hilal are keen on signing the striker, and have made initial contact over his signing.

An official offer is yet to be made, but with the deadline fast approaching to sign players before the Club World Cup, they may try to speed up negotiations.

Nunez could command a huge fee, and given that he is open to a move, this could mean he leaves in the coming days.

Nunez could join Al-Hilal for Club World Cup

Al-Hilal have now appointed Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi, and have ambitious hopes for the upcoming Club World Cup, which Liverpool will not participate in.

This has led them to pursue a striker, but they failed to agree on terms with Victor Osimhen, meaning all roads may now lead to Nunez.

With Liverpool aiming to close a big-money deal for Florian Wirtz, Nunez’s departure will go a long way to funding what could be a British record transfer.

The 25-year-old started just eight matches in the Premier League this season, and is clearly not part of Slot’s plans going forward, and this could be the perfect time for him to leave.

If Nunez remains at Anfield for another season but fails to become a starter, his value could drop dramatically, and by next summer he will have just two years left on his deal.

With Saudi interest in him strong because of the Club World Cup, Liverpool have the chance to cash in on a squad player and earn back a significant chunk of the fee they paid Benfica for the attacker.
