Ryan Gravenberch more than played his part in Liverpool’s hugely successful Premier League-winning campaign.

The Netherlands international started 37 of the Reds’ 38 top-flight matches and was consistently excellent throughout.

Indeed, Gravenberch was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award, which says it all about his efforts.

Many have been quick to hail Gravenberch’s step-up at Anfield, having taken a bit of time to get going upon arriving from Bayern Munich in 2023.

However, Gravenberch has now admitted to being upset at some confirmed exit news at Liverpool.

Gravenberch reacts to Heitinga exit at Liverpool

Gravenberch was not the only Dutchman to be handed a Premier League winners’ medal last season.

John Heitinga was also rewarded, having worked as Arne Slot’s right-hand man at Anfield in 2024-25.

However, Heitinga recently left Liverpool to take up the managerial position at Ajax, leaving a position to be filled.

And Gravenberch has now spoken out on the exit of his compatriot, telling Algemeen Dagblad (7 June): “He’s a very good coach, with a great eye for detail.

“I also talked a lot about my game this season with John Heitinga, watched a lot of footage as well. I personally think it’s a shame that he’s going to Ajax, but I think they have a good coach in him.”

Gravenberch to play key role for Liverpool in 2025-26

Gravenberch added in the same interview that he is eager to push on at Anfield next season.

The midfielder accepts that the best way of doing that is to stay fit, which touch wood he will continue to do.

Slot – another Dutchman – got the best out of Gravenberch last season, and it is fair to say he will be needed at his absolute best again next time around.

Liverpool fans are already starting to grow excited about next season, but for now fingers will be crossed that Gravenberch and all the other international players stay fit while away with their countries.
