Florian Wirtz told to ‘forget it’ amid Liverpool transfer latest – Exclusive

Florian Wirtz looks set to complete his move to Liverpool in the near future.

Negotiations between Bayer Leverkusen and the Merseyside club have reportedly moved a step closer with a £113million bid on the table.

The 22-year-old is understood to have already agreed on personal terms and is waiting for the clubs to agree on a deal.

Wirtz urged to forget about Liverpool fee

His move to Anfield could bring a lot of pressure given the hefty fee that is involved, we have seen players like Darwin Nunez crumble under the expectation.

However, Iconic commentator Ian Darke does not believe this will be an issue for the German star despite the huge figures, who has been urged to forget it.

However, he does not think that the signing of Wirtz alone will secure the title again next season.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Darke said: “Nothing can guarantee you the Premier League, certainly not just one signing, but he is a fantastic young player who was sought-after all around Europe.

“It looked for a long time as if he was going to go to Bayern Munich, but that seems to have fallen through. I think Manchester City were in for him, too; they probably didn’t like the terms.

“He is a great creator, he has got an eye for goal as well, his figures add up, he was maybe the key player when Bayer Leverkusen went through their invincible season and won the Bundesliga.

“In the end, people will not remember what he cost, I think Liverpool have got a player that adds to their squad.”

Liverpool can count on Wirtz to step up

Wirtz is not a player who is easily phased, so the lofty fee will likely not be a concern for him given his exploits for Leverkusen and the German national team already.

He notched 31 contributions in 45 matches for the German outfit last season and will fancy his chances of boosting those numbers alongside Mohamed Salah.

It is a real statement of intent from the Reds and especially Fenway Sports Group, who have been accused of being unwilling to spend in the past but look set to back Arne Slot heavily this summer.
