Liverpool now in advanced talks to sign Wirtz after Man City ‘financial concerns’
Florian Wirtz is set to be the spearhead of Liverpool’s squad revamp this summer.
The Reds completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong for £29.3million last week, and now have their eyes set on his former teammate.
Wirtz, 22, has enjoyed another stellar Bundesliga campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists to win the Players’ Player of the Year award.
The Premier League Champions registered their interest in the German international in May, and the move has slowly gained traction after Wirtz rejected Bayern Munich.

Sources believe Wirtz deal will be done after first bid rejected
Liverpool still look set to seal the signing of the German star, despite their initial bid being rejected.
Bayer Leverkusen rejected Liverpool’s £109m bid last week, as the German side is holding out for £126m to let Wirtz go.
However, The i Paper has reported that sources in Germany suggest that there’s a belief that the deal will be done.
Manchester City looked to battle the Champions for the German’s signature after Pep Guardiola’s side reported verbally agreed a fee with Leverkusen.
However, City withdrew from the race last month, citing financial concerns over the deal as their reasoning for not proceeding with negotiations.

Wirtz is ready to take the Premier League by storm
Liverpool are not the type of side to splash the cash on one singular player, but Wirtz is worth the money.
The Leverkusen man is pushing for the move after informing Bayern of his preference to move to Merseyside, when he was expected to remain in Germany.
Liverpool fans are excited to see the midfielder at Anfield, and it’s easy to see why.
Wirtz brings everything most sides would want in terms of attacking talent, whilst also being able to provide the output needed to succeed in England.
He will also replace the creative hole left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid, whilst giving the Reds an extra piece to an overplayed midfield last season.
Although the German is likely to be used as the number 10 in Slot’s system, his quick dribbling makes him a viable option on the left wing, especially if Luis Diaz is to depart.
The deal is taking time, but Liverpool will become much stronger with Wirtz’s arrival.
