‘Darwin Nunez set for PSG back-up role’ amid Liverpool exit talk
Darwin Nunez struggled to build momentum last season and made a limited impact during Liverpool’s Premier League campaign.
The 25-year-old scored seven goals in all competitions, with occasional flashes that hinted at the quality behind his £85 million price tag.
The Uruguayan netted twice against Brentford to help Liverpool secure their 20th league title, but overall inconsistency throughout the year held him back.
Nunez now appears likely to leave the club, with Arne Slot’s side expected to target a new striker before the start of next season.

Desailly backs PSG move for Liverpool striker
Paris Saint-Germain have been urged to sign the Liverpool striker as they look to build on their Champions League success.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo (5 June), former French striker Marcel Desailly said the French champions should put their name in the hat for the forward.
“The other is Darwin Nunez from Liverpool. Nunez is a point of reference and has great movement. He has been unlucky in front of the goal, but I think he’d do well in a backup role for PSG,” said Desailly.
PSG appears to be an unrealistic destination for the striker. While the French side already boasts strong attacking options, Nunez could still offer a different dimension to their forward line.

Champions waste no time in the transfer market
Liverpool has already made significant moves in the transfer window, with Jermaine Frimpong being the club’s first signing.
Moves for Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz are already in motion, with both players likely to join the Reds.
Liverpool’s swift activity in the transfer market has pleased fans, as Slot’s side aims for glory again next season.
The club are also expecting some outgoings, with Barcelona showing interest in Luis Diaz – but the Liverpool board have made it clear he is not for sale.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting season for Liverpool, but with other teams strengthening, the Reds could face some tough challenges.
However, Liverpool will be challenging in four different competitions, where they will be among the favourites as they aim to bring more silverware back to Merseyside.
