Barcelona remain ‘confident’ of Luis Diaz transfer due to two major factors

Luis Diaz has been heavily linked away from Liverpool in recent weeks after their Premier League title victory.

The Colombian was a crucial part of Arne Slot’s side this season as he netted 13 top-flight goals.

As a result, interest is high in the 28-year-old, with Barcelona aiming to sign Diaz this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly denied claims that Diaz will be sold, but this has not speculation in Spain.

Barcelona want Diaz to put pressure on Liverpool after Wirtz transfer spend

With Florian Wirtz set to join Liverpool for a club-record fee over the coming days, many wonder if the Reds will look to sell some stars to balance the books.

According to Sport Reports via Sport Witness (4 June), Barcelona are hoping that the incoming transfer of the German international could be the catalyst the Spanish side need to sign Diaz.

The article states that due to the money the Reds are set to spend on Wirtz, the Catalan side are “confident” that Slot will be more inclined to sell.

Liverpool have set a £67.6 million asking price for Diaz, which Barcelona are not prepared to meet. However, the Reds financial needs have given the Spanish side more encouragement.

If this does not work, Barcelona are hoping that Diaz will make a “positive contribution in the coming weeks” and put pressure on Liverpool to lower the asking price.

Arne Slot should consider Diaz sale

While Diaz is an excellent player, Slot should certainly consider the sale of the winger this summer.

The Colombian international is now 28 years old, and this could be one of the last opportunities the Merseyside club has of making a profit on him.

On top of this, the signing of Wirtz will mean that someone has to drop out of the starting XI, and this could well be Diaz.

If Barcelona submit a bid of around £60 million, the Reds should accept the money and allow Diaz to leave Anfield on a high.
