Milos Kerkez agrees Liverpool terms with Bournemouth transfer now advanced

Liverpool are not messing around in the transfer market as they close in on several high-profile signings.

The Reds have already replaced the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold with Bayern Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

Arne Slot’s side are also nearing a club-record deal to bring Frimpong’s ex-colleague Florian Wirtz to Anfield.

Now, there has been an update on the proposed move to bring AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez to the North West, with a deal imminent.

Liverpool edge closer to Kerkez deal

Liverpool have been touted with a move for Kerkez for some time, as they look to add competition for Andy Robertson.

The left-back has been one of the standout players in his position in the Premier League, hence why Slot is interested.

Kerkez offers quality at both ends of the pitch, with his numbers a vast improvement on his soon-to-be teammate Robertson.

While the Reds’ interest in the 21-year-old has been long-standing, it seems that an agreement is on the horizon.

Bournemouth and Liverpool are now in advanced talks over a fee of up to £40million, according to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs (4 June).

Furthermore, he adds that Kerkez has already agreed terms with the Merseyside club, meaning the exact fee will seal the deal.

Kerkez would further boost Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes

Not many would have predicted Slot to life the Premier League title in his first season, especially with the lack of investment last summer.

The North West club signed Frederico Chiesa, who has played limited minutes, and Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was immediately sent out on loan.

However, Liverpool are now paying dividends for their small outlay by pursuing significant deals this summer.

Kerkez was never going to come cheap, given his age and potential, but the Cherries are never ones to stand in a player’s way.

The Hungarian has showcased his ability this season, with his attacking threat a particular highlight of Andoni Iraola’s team.

If he can replicate what he has done on the South Coast in the North West, then his numbers will surely improve under Slot.

Of course, there is the matter of Robertson, but Kerkez’s arrival would put Liverpool at the front of the Premier League title race.
