Liverpool star Mohamed Salah ranks above Lamine Yamal in newly-published list
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah was the best player in the Premier League this season, but he may not win the Ballon d’Or.
Salah enjoyed his best season yet at Anfield as he produced an astonishing individual campaign which helped Liverpool win the Premier League with ease.
Liverpool fell short in the Champions League as they lost to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain, and Salah was criticised for his display, which has now reduced his chances of winning the ultimate prize.
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is considered a front-runner for the award, but Salah has now pipped him to the top.

Salah named best winger in the world
Salah’s incredible performances saw him win the Golden Boot, Playmaker award and Player of the Season award as well as the Premier League in a unique sweep of the awards.
He has now claimed another accolade, as ESPN have named him the best winger in the world ahead of stiff competition after a global vote.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Mohammed Salah | 52 | 34 | 23 |
Lamine Yamal | 55 | 18 | 25 |
Releasing a new list of the top players in each position, they named Salah as number one in the world, with Yamal just behind in second place.
Yamal’s Barcelona teammate Raphinha was named in third, while the next highest Premier League winger is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in sixth place.

Salah should be in contention for Ballon d’Or
Despite losing to PSG in the Champions League round of 16, Salah should still be in contention for the Ballon d’Or given his astonishing season, and no Premier League player even came close to matching his performance levels.
The Champions League may weigh in favour of PSG star Ousmane Dembele after his excellent season saw him lift the trophy, but on an individual level, few could compete with Salah.
Liverpool fans will not be too fussed, though, as they will still get to enjoy two more years of Salah after the Egyptian signed a new contract to keep him at Anfield.
The 32-year-old hit unforeseen performance levels this season, and he has hardly lost a step when it comes to his speed, meaning he may be expected to produce similar world-class displays next season.
