Slot makes ‘no promises’ to Jeremie Frimpong after new Liverpool transfer
Liverpool confirmed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong last week.
The 24-year-old joined the Anfield outfit for a fee of £29.5million after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid was officially confirmed.
Conor Bradley looked primed to take over from the England star at right-back but will now face a battle for a starting spot.
However, the Northern Irishman could still come out on top and secure his place in Arne Slot‘s plans regularly.

Frimpong not guaranteed to start for Liverpool
Frimpong is an exciting signing, he is a swashbuckling wing-back who contributes with goals and assists but the defensive side of his game is a concern.
Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that the Dutchman is not guaranteed to start for the Merseysiders despite being the first addition of the summer window.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “It depends on how they impress and how they play, I would say.
“It is a good competition for the place, obviously, I think Frimpong probably moves into pole position as a new signing because they have clearly looked at the situation and thought we need another body.
“They won’t have guaranteed, Liverpool are such a big club and it is such a hard team to get into, that I don’t think Arne Slot, Richard Hughes or anyone else at Liverpool would have promised him a place and neither will he have expected it.
“It is a good, healthy position for Liverpool to be in, with no Trent Alexander-Arnold, to have two people that good competing for that place.”
“I would say Frimpong is more of an attacking kind of right-winger more than a right-back, he can play back there but every time I have seen him is pushed well forward, coming up with the odd goal, whereas Bradley will probably be ahead of him in the defensive stakes.
“It will depend on form completely, who Slot likes better for each assignment as it comes along.”

Liverpool right-back battle will be thrilling
It will be thrilling to see who wins the battle to be the starter for Liverpool on a regular basis.
However, as Darke states, it will likely depend of the level of the opposition and who is on form at that moment rather than any one being the number one choice.
The Reds have two excellent options and have stocked themselves well after their homegrown star departed for a new challenge.
