Ian Rush sends message to new Liverpool signing on Instagram
Liverpool are set for a busy summer, with many stars rumoured to join and leave Anfield.
Liverpool technical director Julian Ward has already started his summer transfer window with a replacement already confirmed for Trent Alexander-Arnold after he left for Real Madrid.
The Reds wasted no time in confirming their replacement, Jeremie Frimpong.

Anfield icon makes new Red feel right at home
Liverpool legend Ian Rush MBE is the club’s leading goalscorer with having scored 364 goals in all competitions across his two spells at the club (1980-1987 and 1988-1996).
Rush took to Instagram (30 May) to give a warm welcome to new Liverpool defender.
Frimpong was confirmed as the new replacement for Trent (30 May), with no waiting around to announce the new defender after Trent’s signing to Real Madrid was confirmed.
Rush commented on Liverpool’s Instagram post confirming the signing from Bayer Leverkusen.
He commented: “Welcome to Liverpool.”

Jeremie Frimpong brings different qualities
Frimpong grew up in the North-West of England and chose Manchester City’s academy over Liverpool, as it was an easier commute.
The 24-year-old has already won treble and double-winning seasons with his past clubs and that is the standard at Liverpool.
Bayer Leverkusen | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Jeremie Frimpong | 98 | 22 | 19 |
The attacking full-back has a good blend of both abilities, defending and attacking, where some full-backs are good at one or the other.
Mohammed Salah and Trent’s relationship on the right side of the pitch was a key success for Liverpool, but Frimpong brings something different.
Frimpong, an overlapping full-back, may create more space for Salah, but alternatively, he might be in the space where Salah may want to cut in with his left foot and shoot.
As a defender, he thrives in a one-on-one situation and with his pace, he should come out on top in those take-ons while defending.
It isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Trent; they are two different players, physically and technically.
