Graeme Souness wowed by ‘Remarkable’ Salah after double Liverpool agreement
Mohamed Salah enjoyed one of his finest seasons as he fired Liverpool to the Premier League title.
The Reds won their 20th Premier League crown under new manager Arne Slot, and Salah led the way in the entire division for goals and assists.
Salah signing a new contract before the season ended put the cherry on top for Liverpool, and Graeme Souness has shared his delight.

Salah praised by Liverpool legend
Souness had a total of 359 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, 55 goals and 39 assists.
The ex-midfielder assisted the only goal during Liverpool’s European Cup win against FC Bruges in 1978, and has loved seeing that success continue with the likes of Salah.
Writing in the print edition of the Daily Mail (31 May, pg 109), he said: “My player of the year has to be Mo Salah.
“It’s hard to consider anyone else when he has won the Golden Boot, the Playmaker award for most assists and, most importantly, a Premier League winner’s medal.
“The hardest thing to do is score goals, and for him to reach 34 in all competitions – the fifth time he has scored 30 or more since joining Liverpool – shows remarkable consistency.”
Liverpool | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Mohammed Salah | 52 | 34 | 23 |
Salah signed a new contract at the Reds to keep him beyond the season 24/25, with Virgil van Dijk quickly following in two huge signings for the Reds.
Souness was delighted at the pair: “At the start of the season, I said Arne Slot’s biggest job was getting him and Virgil Van Dijk to sign new deals.
“With that done, and Liverpool adding signings, the club’s future is bright.”

Salah statue pending at Anfield
Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, and since then, the forward has won it all.
Two Premier League trophies, an FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the Community Shield, the Fifa World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
With Salah signing a new deal to extend his eight-year stay, he has committed his future to the Merseyside club at 32 years of age.
In addition to the silverware he has won as a team, he has won individual trophies, the Premier League Golden Boot on three occasions, been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice and taken home two FWA Footballer of the Year awards.
The extended stay will mean adding more to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet, which will only mean a stronger pursuit of his Liverpool statue that should be built outside Anfield.
Kevin De Bruyne leaving Manchester City recently was just a reminder of everything Salah has done in red, and he should receive the exact same treatment when moving on.
