Liverpool ready Ramos transfer as Michael Edwards strategy becomes clear

Liverpool are set for some major additions in the summer transfer window, with the final third set for a complete transformation.

Florian Wirtz is in talks over a blockbuster move to Anfield, while Milos Kerkez could follow Jeremie Frimpong in as defensive additions.

Liverpool won the Premier League title with ease, but are prepared to strengthen their squad significantly with some smart signings.

Director Michael Edwards has made some outstanding signings over the years using a statistically backed strategy, and he is now eyeing up an unexpected name.

Edwards wants to sign Goncalo Ramos

Liverpool have been linked with several strikers including Hugo Ekitike in addition to Wirtz, but are now eyeing up Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos initially moved to PSG for around £67million, but has struggled for game time with the Champions League finalists.

Anfield Watch (29 May) have now reported that Liverpool are interested in Ramos as a potential striker option this summer.

Ramos made just 12 Ligue 1 starts this season, but Edwards reportedly sees him as a potential bargain option, and one who can instantly improve from a change in environment that suits him more.

Liverpool interested in centre-forwards alongside Wirtz

The potential signing of Wirtz may have indicated that the German could have arrived to play as a false nine, rather than a centre-forward.

However, Liverpool are set for an ambitious summer, and are interested in number nines alongside the Leverkusen star.

Arne Slot’s side were strong going forward for most of the season, but their Champions League exit showed that they need more firepower, and Ramos is seen as a potential bargain who can add extra threat in front of goal.

Darwin Nunez looks likely to leave, and the additions of Wirtz and potentially Ramos will hand Slot more options in attack.

Ramos has scored 32 times in 80 games for PSG, but most of these appearances have come from the bench, and playing regularly at Anfield could see him improve this tally.
